AP Govt announces Rs 50-La Ex-gratia for late soldier's family

AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said on Saturday that the family of Lance Naik B. Sai Teja, who died in the December 8 chopper disaster, will receive Rs 50 lakh in ex-gratia.

Sai Teja, a native of Chittoor, was the Personal Security Officer (PSO) to Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen Bipin Rawat, who was also killed in the Mi-17V5 helicopter crash at Katteri, near Coonoor, Tamil Nadu, along with 11 others.

Sai Teja (27) is survived by his wife Shyamala, son Mokshagana, 4, and daughter Darshini, 2. He was born in Eguva Regada hamlet in Kurabala Kota mandal of Chittoor district. Meanwhile, the body of Sai Teja was recognised by military authorities on Saturday. Six people were found dead and their bodies were identified and returned to their relatives. The soldier's body would most likely be transported from Coimbatore to his hometown later in the day.
