Andhra Pradesh:  In a bid to combat the spike of COVID-19 cases in the state, the Andhra Pradesh government ordered a night curfew from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Monday.

The decision was made after Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy convened a review meeting with health department officials to discuss the COVID-19 situation. With 50 percent occupancy or alternate seating arrangements, theatres, multiplexes, and cinema halls will be open for business.  Public gatherings are also restricted by the authorities, with only 200 persons allowed outside and 100 inside the auditorium.

Masks are required to be worn in public areas, and violators would face a fine of Rs 100. Religious institutions in the state must adhere to COVID-19 guidelines, and masks must be worn inside the premises. Urgent testing necessitates the use of a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT). Each segment will have one COVID-19 care centre.

The state also recorded 140 recoveries and two more deaths in the 24 hours leading up to 9 a.m. on Sunday. After a total of 20,62,580 recoveries and 14,505 deaths, the number of active cases increased to 4,774. Chittoor had the most new cases with 254, followed by Visakhapatnam with 196, Anantapuramu with 138, Krishna with 117, Guntur with 104, and SPS Nellore with 103.
