New Delhi: An all-party meeting was convened on Saturday, June 24, to address the grave situation in Manipur, which has been plagued by violent incidents. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, leading the meeting, aimed to gather insights and devise effective strategies to restore peace in the region.

The meeting witnessed the presence of esteemed individuals from various political affiliations, including: Union Minister of State for Home, Nityanand Rai, Union Minister, Pralhad Joshi, BJP President, J.P. Nadda, Former Manipur Chief Minister, Okram Ibobi Singh, Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP, Priyanka Chaturvedi, RJD's Manoj Jha, Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma, CPI(M) MP, John Brittas, Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha member, Derek O'Brien, Samajwadi Party MP, Ramgopal Yadav, AAP Rajya Sabha MP, Sanjay Singh
The Ministry of Home Affairs also dispatched several officers to partake in the meeting alongside the aforementioned individuals.
Sources indicate that the central government will provide the opposition leaders with a comprehensive briefing on the actions undertaken during the past 50 days to stabilize the situation in Manipur. Moreover, the government seeks the cooperation and assistance of these leaders in restoring normalcy to the violence-stricken state.

Opposition parties, notably the Congress, have expressed strong criticisms towards both the central government and the Manipur administration for their perceived inability to contain the crisis that erupted on May 3. In addition, the Congress party has raised questions regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's silence on the matter.

The repercussions of the violence in Manipur are deeply distressing. Tragically, the conflict has claimed the lives of at least 120 individuals, leaving over 400 others injured. Furthermore, an alarming number of 50,650 men, women, and children have been displaced from their homes as a result of the ongoing turmoil.
