Agartala: Air Asia airline has started its first airline from Agartala in Tripura on Sunday. Meanwhile, Tripura CM Viplav Kumar Dev flagged off the Air Asia flight connecting Guwahati, Kolkata, Imphal and New Delhi from Agartala.

Dev was accompanied by Transport Minister Pranjit Singharoy, Lok Sabha MP Pratima Bhowmik and Rebati Tripura. The aircraft, with 180 passengers, left for Guwahati later this afternoon and returned at around 4:30. After this, it left for Agartala from West Bengal capital Kolkata at 5:30 pm. According to Air Asia officials, the 180-seater Airbus will fly from Kolkata at around 7.35 am every day of the week except Sunday and land at Agartala at 8.40 am.

After this, it will fly again at 9.10 am and reach Delhi via Kolkata, the national capital. With the operation of this new aircraft from Air Asia, Agartala now has three flights to Delhi. The second flight of Air Asia will also connect Agartala, Guwahati and Imphal. This aircraft will fly from Kolkata daily at one o'clock in the afternoon and reach Agartala in about 40 minutes. The flight will leave for Guwahati four days a week and three days for Imphal.
