Dehradun: Work is going on for the Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail line project of Uttarakhand. Continuous drilling, explosion, and sabotage here are affecting the fragile mountains around. People of Maroda village say that due to the vibration caused by the rail line project, their houses are being cracked.
Some houses are almost completely broken. The lower part of the stairs of the house has become hollow. People come and go over it carefully. A man from Maroda village is showing cracks in the walls of his house. Looking at the cracks, it seems as if lightning has fallen on this wall. The basis is also sliding from below. People of Bahuguna Nagar in Karnaprayag in Chamoli district are seen taking their belongings to safer areas. Their houses have also now come into the danger zone. They believe it can fall anytime.
Cold winds from these cracks keep coming at night. We are tolerating the weather. During this, a villager told that he has been living here for many decades. I built a house with hard work. I have invested all the capital but this is the first time in so many years that I have seen such cracks.
