Jaipur: In a sweeping administrative overhaul, the Rajasthan government has transferred a total of 336 officials from the Rajasthan Administrative Services (RAS). The Department of Personnel issued an order on Monday, instructing all concerned officials to comply with the official notification.
The significance of this reshuffle lies in its timing, just before the scheduled state assembly election. On June 2nd, the state government had already transferred seven Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and 30 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers.
The government's decision comes after noticing that officers tend to stay in specific positions and departments for prolonged periods, which can negatively impact the transparency and credibility of the administration. To maintain trust in the system, the government has directed that an officer's tenure in a particular position should not exceed three years, and in exceptional cases, five years. This move aims to bring in more dynamism and efficiency to the administrative machinery.
On June 2, the Rajasthan Government made significant changes within the administrative and police services by transferring seven Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers and thirty Indian Police Service (IPS) officers. The reassignments included the shifting of Inspector Generals (IGs) in two ranges and Superintendents of Police (SPs) in eight districts.
