Mumbai In an alarming incident, Bollywood actor and Shiv Sena member Govinda Ahuja sustained injuries after his licensed pistol misfired while he was cleaning it at his home in Juhu. The accident occurred on Tuesday morning around 5:15 a.m., just as he was preparing to leave for some assignments.
Preliminary reports indicate that while Govinda was handling the weapon, it accidentally discharged, injuring his leg. He was quickly rushed to CritiCare Hospital in Juhu, where his condition is now reported to be stable.
Shiv Sena National Spokesperson Krishna Hegde confirmed the incident, expressing concern for Govinda's health. "We have learned that he was cleaning the pistol when it misfired and injured him. We are very concerned for his health and hope that he recovers soon," Hegde said.
The Juhu Police Station is conducting initial inquiries into the situation, although Govinda's family has not yet released an official statement. The news of the incident has sparked discussions within political circles.
Govinda, a former Congress MP from Mumbai North, made headlines earlier this year when he joined the ruling Shiv Sena, led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, in March. While he has stated that he is not interested in pursuing electoral politics, he has committed to supporting the party as a star campaigner and has actively campaigned for various party candidates during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
As he recovers, Govinda is expected to be a significant and popular figure for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections in November.
