New Delhi: A case of the alleged lynching of a 62-year-old priest in Sonia Vihar in the national capital has come to light. The incident happened the day before. The seriously injured priest was admitted to JPC Hospital for treatment, from where he was referred to GTB Hospital. The priest died during treatment late in the evening.
It is being told that at around 5.40 am on Wednesday, Sonia vihar police station received information that a priest had been severely beaten up by the youth. After receiving the information, the police team which reached the spot admitted the injured priest to JPC Hospital. During the investigation, the injured person has been identified as 62-year-old Soni Ram, a resident of Sonia Vihar.
During the interrogation of people in the vicinity, it has come to light that a person named Sonu Bhatt had beaten up priest Soni Ram, after which people in the vicinity also beat up the accused Sonu Bhatt. During this time, Sonu Bhatt was also seriously injured. At present, Sonu has been admitted to the Trauma Centre of Delhi Civil Lines for treatment.
Soni Ram, who was seriously injured in the beating, was referred to GTB Hospital in view of his condition. The police wanted to take a statement from the injured Soni Ram but he was not in a position to give the statement. It is being told that Soni Ram died late in the evening during treatment. However, the cause of the murder is not yet known, the police are investigating the case.
