Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today, February 4, flagged off the first batch of 36 government school principals for their visit to Singapore for professional training.The school principals began their journey from Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Public Administration in Chandigarh today morning.
The first group of 36 principals of government schools will receive professional training in Singapore, said the officials. "They will all take part in a Singapore teacher training programme. From February 6 to February 10, a training seminar would be held, and on February 11, the class will return to Punjab "they added.
The Chief Minister delivered a statement in this regard earlier on Thursday. Since taking office, the AAP government in Delhi, led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, has made significant improvements to the educational landscape in the capital city and transformed the public schools.
The party has asserted that sending teachers abroad for training has helped the education sector in UT as a whole. However, the Delhi Government and Lt Governor of Delhi, VK Saxena, are currently at odds over sending teachers abroad for training.
On Thursday, Kejriwal addressed a press conference and questioned Delhi's LG about the Finland file's ongoing holdup about the plan to send teachers abroad for training. "The Delhi government has already trained more than 1000 foreign principals and teachers, and it wishes to keep doing so," he said.
Kejriwal reaffirmed that the teachers in Delhi's government schools are currently being stopped by the Delhi LG.
"We have challenged this statute because it is illegal, despite the Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court's July 2018 ruling that no file will be sent to the L-G. I'm hoping the L-G will permit instructors to travel till this decision is made "he said.
