Agartala: Police have arrested three youths for allegedly gang-raping a minor tribal girl in Tripura's Gomati district. An official has given information in this regard on Tuesday. The three were arrested from the Raibari area after a case of gang rape was registered, the official said. The police are now interrogating the three and investigating the case.

According to the police, the 15-year-old girl from the Udaipur subdivision was in a relationship with one of the accused for almost a year. Officer-in-charge of Killa police station Lakshyabir Jamatia said the youth had asked the woman to come to the Raibari area and accordingly she came on Saturday. The young man took the girl to a deserted place, where two of his friends were waiting for them. They then raped the girl.

The youths left the girl in an unconscious state. The girl called the police, following which the police rushed to the spot, the officer said. "The condition of the girl is stable now and three alleged rapists were arrested on Monday morning. Along with the provision of gang rape, an investigation has been started under the stringent POCSO Act.''
