Jabalpur : Bhedaghat is famous for its marble litigants and 'Dhuadhar', but now it is becoming famous for the statues of Mahatma Gandhi. In the last two months only about half a hundred Gandhi statues have been made and sent to different cities of the state. The government of Madhya Pradesh was directed to install the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the government, semi-government and private colleges of the state. After which statues of Mahatma Gandhi were established on 30 January in various colleges. This work is still going on in many colleges of the state. Sculptors are still getting orders for the construction of the statue after the delay in making the pillar. In which after Jaipur, Jabalpur is now a city where small to large marble statues are made.
In Bhedaghat, more than half a hundred orders have been made to build a two and a half feet statue of Mahatma Gandhi. Around 200 artisans are working here to make idols with small raw and pucca stones. There are more than 150 shops and factories, including small and big statues. Out of these, there are 10 vendor centers which manufacture and sell marble, white stone and black stone idols on a large scale. The idols of which are set to be established across the country. Orders have been received to make about 10 to 8 Mahatma Gandhi statues in each shop.
When sculptor Horilal Shripal told that the work of idol construction has been going on here for 25 years. Seeing the photo, Horilal, who specializes in carving pucca stones, is said to have made a marble statue of two and a half feet of Mahatma Gandhi in 7 days. Apart from this, it takes 15 days to build a statue of 3 to 4 feet. According to the order, even 10-10 feet statues have been made, which are prepared in a month. At the same time, the statue of Mahatma Gandhi was to be installed in the Chief Minister's college, for which orders came from all over the state. More than 50 statues have been sold in the entire area. For which work is still going on on many idols.
