Political opponents of the government had alleged that due to the elections of five states, the Modi government had stopped the oil companies from increasing the price. Oil companies had increased the price by Rs 25 per liter for bulk buyers of diesel after crude oil prices touched $112 a barrel in the international market. Oil dealers said that there may be a gradual increase in the retail price.
