West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is expected to visit Delhi at the end of this month, where she will likely attend the NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting scheduled for July 27, 2024. The meeting, which will be chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is set to be a key event with significant discussions on national development.

Sources within the Trinamool Congress suggest that Banerjee plans to travel to Delhi on July 25 and return on July 28. During her stay, she is also anticipated to meet with Trinamool Congress representatives in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha to strategize for upcoming parliamentary sessions.

A member of the state Cabinet, who chose to remain anonymous, indicated that Banerjee's participation in the NITI Aayog meeting is highly probable. However, they did not confirm whether she will engage with opposition INDIA bloc leaders or other Chief Ministers from non-BJP ruled states who will also be in Delhi for the meeting.

Political analysts see Banerjee's visit as particularly important, given the increased role of the Trinamool Congress within the INDIA bloc following their strong performance in recent Lok Sabha elections and Assembly by-polls.

In related news, some opposition Chief Ministers who have opted out of the NITI Aayog meeting are being criticized for potentially neglecting their states' development needs. Government sources have highlighted that the Governing Council Meeting will address over 100 important issues, including strategies for economic development, MSME support, infrastructure projects, compliance reduction, women empowerment, health and nutrition, skill development, and Gati Shakti initiatives. States not represented at this meeting may miss out on crucial opportunities for growth and development.
