Kannauj: Some unidentified persons in UP's Kannauj threw pieces of meat into the temple complex of a village. They also desecrated the statues in 2 places. Then, there were communal clashes and then many people protested. Due to this, many shops were also set on fire. According to Kannauj police, the gate of a graveyard has also been damaged in the violence. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken action against the Kannauj collector and SP and removed him from the post. In fact, the collector-SP has been accused of negligence in this case.
According to police, the case took place at Rasoolabad village under Talgram police station area. Temple priest Jagdish Chandra found pieces of meat inside the temple and informed the police. Subsequently, the police reached the spot and cleaned the entire place. However, later, accusing the police of keeping quiet on the incident, people gathered on the road and blocked the Talgram-Indergarh road. Then the blockade continued for 3 hours. Subsequently, the police pacified the protesters.
Significantly, as soon as the blockade was lifted, there were reports that statues were desecrated in two places. Thereafter, the mob became angry and set 4 shops on fire. The gate of a cemetery was then damaged. Police officials said they are identifying the persons involved in the incident. The situation is under control. Police patrolling on foot has been intensified across the city. An FIR has been lodged against unidentified criminals. Strict action will be taken against those who try to disturb the peace.
