The Uttarakhand government has made it compulsory for tourists and devotees visiting the state to carry a dustbin or a garbage bag in their vehicles. This move aims to maintain the state's cleanliness and beauty. The government has written to the transport commissioners of neighboring states, including Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Chandigarh, and Madhya Pradesh, informing them about this new rule.
As per the new rule, no tourist or traveler will be allowed to throw garbage on the roads. If anyone fails to comply with this rule, a fine will be imposed. The government has taken this step to ensure that the state's beauty and cleanliness are maintained, especially during the peak tourist season.
The rule has been implemented because many devotees visiting the Char Dham temples have been littering the roads in their hurry to reach the shrines. From now on, vehicles will be issued a trip card only if they have a dustbin or garbage bag. The trip card can be obtained online or at the state's entry points.
To obtain the trip card, vehicle owners will have to produce valid documents, including RC, insurance papers, fitness certificate, pollution certificate, and valid permit. This process will help prevent littering and ensure that all travelers carry a garbage bag in their vehicles.
If you're planning to visit Uttarakhand or Char Dham, make sure to carry a garbage bag in your vehicle or ensure that the vehicle you're traveling in has a dustbin. This rule has been implemented to prevent illegal dumping of garbage and maintain the state's cleanliness.
