US Issues Strong Warning to Iran Over Alleged Plots Against Trump

The United States has issued a stern warning to Iran, urging it to cease any alleged plots against former President Donald Trump, according to a US official. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Washington would consider any attempt on Trump's life as an act of war.

The official revealed that President Joe Biden has been regularly briefed on the threats, and his administration has conveyed clear messages to Tehran, cautioning the Iranian government to stop targeting Trump or other former US officials. "If any such attack is carried out, it will be treated as an act of war," the official said.

This warning stems from ongoing concerns over retaliation by Iran following the 2020 US drone strike that killed Iranian General Qassem Soleimani. At the time, Trump ordered the strike, citing intelligence that Soleimani was planning imminent attacks on US diplomats and military personnel in Iraq and other regions.

While Iran has denied any interference in US affairs, it frequently points to historical US actions, such as the 1953 coup in Iran and the assassination of Soleimani, as instances of American meddling.

Trump, now a candidate in the 2024 presidential election, was recently briefed by US intelligence officials regarding the threats from Iran. His campaign confirmed that he had been made aware of the situation on September 24.

The White House has been closely monitoring these threats for years and has emphasized that any Iranian attack on US citizens, including former officials, would result in severe consequences. White House National Security Council spokesperson Sean Savett said, "This is a matter of national and homeland security, and we condemn Iran's brazen threats."

Savett further assured that the Secret Service has been fully equipped with the necessary resources and protective measures to address the evolving threats against Trump.
