The UK Home Office has announced the details for the second and final ballot of the India Young Professional Scheme for 2024. This scheme allows young Indian nationals to live, work, and study in the UK for up to 24 months.
The ballot period will open on July 16, 2024, at 13:30 Indian Standard Time and close on July 18, 2024, at the same time. Eligible applicants are Indian citizens aged 18-30, with a bachelor’s degree or higher, savings of GBP 2,530, and no dependent children under 18.
In 2024, the UK has allocated 3,000 places for this scheme, with most spots already filled during the February ballot. The upcoming July ballot will allocate the remaining places. Entry into the ballot is free, and successful applicants will need to pay GBP 298 for the visa application. Those not selected can reapply in future ballots. This scheme provides a streamlined pathway with quicker processing times compared to other visa options.
Eligibility Criteria:
Application Process:
Enter the Ballot: Confirm eligibility and enter the ballot during the specified dates.
Successful Entry: If selected, receive an invitation to apply for the visa within two weeks of the ballot closing.
Prepare Documents: Gather necessary documents, including:
Visa Application: Submit the visa application promptly after receiving the invitation.
This scheme is part of the UK-India Mobility and Migration Partnership signed in May 2021, aimed at enhancing migration arrangements and cooperation on immigration matters between the two countries. Unlike the UK’s ballot system, India’s equivalent program, the Employment Visa – E 1, allows eligible individuals to apply throughout the year.
