New Delhi: The Univerisity Grand Commission (UGC) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) on Friday warned Indian students not to enroll in any college or educational institution in Pakistan, warning that if they do, they will be unable to find work or further their study in the nation.
The UGC and the AICTE have issued a joint advisory less than a month after the higher education regulator warned Indian students planning to pursue higher education in China that "degree courses done only in online mode without prior approval" are not recognised.
The warning against going to China for schooling comes after the Chinese government has stopped all visas due to COVID-19 since November 2020. "It is strongly urged that anyone interested in pursuing higher education in Pakistan refrain from doing so. Any Indian resident or Indian Overseas Citizen who wishes to enrol in a Pakistani degree college or educational institution will be ineligible to pursue employment or further education in India based on such educational qualifications (in any subject) obtained in Pakistan "the warning read.
"However, migrants and their children who have earned higher education degrees in Pakistan and have been granted Indian citizenship would be permitted to work in India after obtaining security clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs," it added.
According to AICTE Chairman Anil Sahasrabudhe, Indian students should be informed as to which institutions and countries they should study in so that they do not end up with a degree that does not comply with Indian laws.
