Margao: In a heart-wrenching incident, two brothers, aged 29 and 27, were discovered dead in their residence in Goa, reportedly due to extreme starvation. The police reported that the two brothers, along with their mother, were surviving on only one date a day for several days.
The elder brother has been identified as Mohammad Zuber Khan, while the younger one has been identified as Aafan Khan. Their mother, Ruksana Khan, was found unconscious in another room.
Family Discord over Fasting Practices
According to police reports, the father of the two young men had started living separately, discontented with his wife and children due to disagreements over fasting practices. Mohammad Nazir Khan, a garment salesman, had gone to visit his family in Margao on Wednesday but found the house locked from the inside. Despite knocking repeatedly, he received no response. Upon gaining entry, he discovered the bodies of his two sons.
Health Condition of Ruksana Khan
While Ruksana Khan has been admitted to a government hospital, she is soon to be transferred to the Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour (IPHB) at Goa Medical College.
Family History
Akhbar Khan, the uncle of the deceased brothers, revealed that the family had isolated themselves in the house, with little interaction among themselves in the past few days. Nazir Khan had moved to a different house due to frequent arguments with his wife and children over fasting and irregular eating habits. It's noteworthy that both Zube and Aafan had spent most of their childhood at their maternal home in Maharashtra’s Sindhudurg district.
