Tito Jackson, a prominent member of the legendary Jackson 5, has passed away at 70. The news was initially reported by a major daily, with family friend and former manager Steve Manning confirming Tito’s death on Sunday, September 15. Tito's nephew, Siggy Jackson, also confirmed the news to another publication.

Tito Jackson gained fame as part of the Jackson 5 alongside his brothers Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon, and Michael. The group achieved massive success with hits like “I Want You Back,” “ABC,” “The Love You Save,” and “I’ll Be There,” all of which reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Their success led to the phenomenon known as “Jacksonmania,” with the brothers captivating audiences with their musical talent and energetic performances under the strict guidance of their father, Joe Jackson.

How Did Tito Jackson Die?

Reports suggest that Tito Jackson may have suffered a heart attack while driving from New Mexico to Oklahoma. However, the official cause of death has not been confirmed.

Who Was Tito Jackson?

In 1997, the Jackson 5 was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Tito received three Grammy nominations as part of the group for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group and Best Contemporary Vocal Performance. Throughout their career, the Jackson 5 released 16 albums—10 as the Jackson 5 and six as The Jacksons—solidifying their place in music history.

Tito Jackson later pursued a solo career, releasing "Tito Time" in 2016 and "Under Your Spell" in 2021. He continued making music and collaborated with Brazilian artist Natalia Damini on the 2022 single “Attitude,” which was accompanied by a music video.

Born in Gary, Indiana, Tito was the third of 10 children in the Jackson family, which also included Randy, Rebbie, La Toya, and Janet. The Jacksons initially lived in a modest two-bedroom home at 2300 Jackson St., which later inspired the title of their 1989 album.

As the Jackson 5’s fame declined, many of the brothers pursued solo careers, with Michael and Jermaine achieving significant success. Michael Jackson, known as the King of Pop, became a global music icon, although his life was marked by controversy and his untimely death in 2009 due to a drug overdose at the age of 50.
