Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently on a visit to Poland, where the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Poland is being celebrated. There is also a square in Poland, which is named 'Good Maharaja Square'. PM Modi will also visit this square. This square is named in honor of Indian Maharaja Digvijay Singh Jadeja, and it holds a special place in the hearts of the people of Poland.

Poland's difficulties during World War II

During the Second World War, when Hitler invaded Poland, the army there tried to send women and children to a safe place by putting them on a ship. These refugees were trying to get out of Poland, but no country was ready to give them shelter. Meanwhile, this ship reached Jamnagar in Gujarat, where Maharaja Digvijay Singh Jadeja gave them shelter. The Maharaja not only saved their lives, but also took care of hundreds of children and women from Poland from 1942 to 1946.

Honor of Maharaja Digvijay Singh

Due to the kindness and humanity of Maharaja Digvijay Singh, today eight schools in Poland have been named after him. People of Poland even today proudly wear T-shirts with his picture in his memory and praise him. Vartho, a Polish citizen, said that wearing his T-shirt means keeping the memory of the Maharaja alive and telling the next generation how an Indian Maharaja showed humanity in times of crisis.

Vartho said that the contribution of Maharaja Digvijay Singh shows how neighbouring countries should be helped, and this teaches us that we should always be ready to help others in times of need.
