Teachers not only impart knowledge to human beings but also help a child identify his strengths and weaknesses. This helps him to become a better person. The status of teachers in the country has been given above God. India gave many great philosophers to the world who are still famous as world Gurus. As far as the field of education is concerned, India has a deep history. Teachers' Day is celebrated all over India on 5th September, the birth anniversary of former President of India Sarvepalli Dr. Radhakrishnan. The contribution, talent, and skills of our country's most academicians, teachers, and lecturers have been acknowledged globally. We introduce you to some such great teachers.
Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan:- Former President and philosopher and educationist of India Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was born in 1888 in Tirutani, a small village in Tamil Nadu. Radhakrishnan has taught in numerous universities around the world, including Calcutta, Mysore, Harvard University, Harris Manchester College, and Oxford University. He passed away on April 17, 1975.
Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam: Former President Of India, Known as 'Missile Man,'Â Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam always wanted him to be remembered as a good teacher. He had a passion for teaching. He passed away on July 27, 2015, while teaching at IIM Shillong. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was born on October 15, 1931, in Dhanushkodi, Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, India. His birth anniversary is celebrated as World Students' Day.
Acharya Chanakya: Acharya Chanakya was the General Secretary and Guru of the great emperor Chandragupta Maurya. He is also known as 'Kautilya.'Â He was the acharya of Takshashila University, he mainly trained the Bhil and Kirat princes. He destroyed the Nanda dynasty and made Chandragupta Maurya king.
Swami Dayanand Saraswati:- Maharishi Swami Dayanand Saraswati was a renowned thinker of modern India, social reformer, Akhand brahmachari, and founder of Arya Samaj. He established the Arya Samaj in Mumbai to propagate the Vedas and give freedom to Aryavarta. He was a sannyasin and a thinker. He made karma theory, rebirth, celibacy, and sannyasa the four pillars of his philosophy.
Rabindranath Tagore:- Rabindranath Tagore is a world-famous poet, litterateur, philosopher, and Nobel Laureate in Indian literature. He is also known as Gurudev. Bengali literature was an epoch-making pioneer in Indian cultural consciousness. He is Asia's first Nobel Laureate. He is the only poet whose two works became the national anthem of two countries. India's national anthem 'Jana Gana Mana' and Bangladesh's national anthem 'Amar Sonar Bangla' are the works of Gurudev.
Savitribai Phule:- Savitribai Jyotirao Phule was born on January 3, 1831. She was the first woman teacher, social reformer, and Marathi poet of the country. She along with her husband Jyotirao Govindrao Phule did remarkable work in the field of women's rights and education. She is considered to be the pioneer of modern Marathi poetry.
Swami Vivekananda:- Swami Vivekananda was born on January 12, 1863. He was a famous and influential spiritual guru of Vedanta. His real name was Narendra Nath Dutt. He represented Hinduism on behalf of India at the World Dharma Mahasabha held in Chicago, the USA in 1893. India's spiritually filled Vedanta philosophy came to every country in the US and Europe because of Swami Vivekananda. He established the Ramakrishna Mission which is still doing its job.
Munshi Premchand:- Dhanpat Rai Srivastava was born on July 31, 1880, later he came to be known as Premchand. He was a very famous novelist, storyteller, and thinker of Hindi and Urdu. He wrote about a dozen and a half novels like Sevasadan, Premashram, Rangbhoomi, Nirmala, Drone, Karmabhoomi, Godan, etc., and more than three hundred stories like Kafan, Poos Ki Raat, Panch Parmeshwar, Bade Ghar Ki Beti, Boodhi Kaki, Do Bailon Ki Katha, etc.
