CHENNAI: As the board exams are due for May, the Tamil Nadu school education department is considering reopening schools for grades 10 to 12 in February.
In a virtual conference with school principals, teachers, and bureaucrats on Tuesday, School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh discussed the idea of reopening schools for grades 10 to 12 in February.
The state department of education has previously announced board exams in May, as well as two revision tests in January and March for students taking the May board exam. The revision tests, however, have been cancelled due to the school closures caused by the pandemic.
The education minister recently stated that the state government would conduct board tests for classes 10th, 11th, and 12th in May, and the school education department wants to reopen schools now that the board examinations are only a few weeks away.
However, sources in the school education department said that the Illam Thedi Kalvi programme for kids in grades 1 to 8 is getting positive feedback from students, parents, and teachers, and that it is helping pupils in grades 1 to 8 bridge the learning gap.
