The Supreme Court has granted bail to K Kavitha, a member of the Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. Kavitha, who has been in custody since March 15, was granted bail in connection with the Delhi excise policy case.

During Tuesday’s hearing, the Supreme Court expressed concerns about the investigation's handling by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Justices B.R. Gavai and K.V. Viswanathan questioned the agencies about the evidence linking Kavitha to the alleged scam.

Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, representing Kavitha, argued that the investigation was complete and highlighted the Supreme Court's earlier decision to grant bail to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia, who is also a co-accused in the case.

Additional Solicitor General S.V. Raju, representing the investigating agencies, claimed that Kavitha had deleted data from her mobile phone, accusing her of tampering with evidence. Kavitha’s lawyer dismissed these allegations as unfounded.

The court demanded clarification from the agencies on the evidence against Kavitha, questioning what material they had to prove her involvement in the alleged crime.
