Karnataka: Students wearing hijab were allowed to enter the campus of Government PU College in Kundapura, Udupi district, Karnataka, on Monday, after days of protest. According to the school administration, such children will be seated in different classrooms.

"In Kundapura, the issue is under control, and students are permitted to attend college and campus even if they are wearing hijab. In Kundapur, there is no law and order situation "ST Siddalingappa, Udupi's Additional Superintendent of Police, said as much.

On Friday, students protested near the school after they were allegedly denied access to Government PU College because they were wearing the hijab. According to the police source, two people were arrested earlier in the day for carrying a weapon near the protesting students.

"Two people have been apprehended, while three others are on the run. We're attempting to locate them. One of them had a knife in his possession. They are from Gangolli and are not natives. They've been taken into custody by the authorities. The case is still being investigated "Siddalingappa stated.

On Saturday, the pre-university education board issued a circular declaring that students may only wear uniforms approved by the school administration and that no other religious practises will be permitted at institutions.
