NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the ninth anniversary of the 'Startup India' initiative, describing it as a game-changer that has propelled India into one of the world's most dynamic startup ecosystems.Â
The PM emphasized its pivotal role in empowering the youth and fostering innovation across sectors such as healthcare, biotechnology, and clean energy. He also reiterated his government’s unwavering support for nurturing entrepreneurship and startups at all levels.
Calling 'Startup India' a landmark initiative, the Prime Minister highlighted how it has redefined innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic growth. He referred to the programme as "very close to my heart," stating that it has become a powerful tool for empowering young minds.
Taking to social media X, Modi wrote, "Over the past nine years, this transformative programme has empowered countless young people, turning their innovative ideas into thriving startups." He further noted that just a decade ago, many doubted India’s ability to succeed in this space.

He applauded the Indian startup ecosystem for addressing global challenges while creating job opportunities and advancing the nation’s journey toward self-reliance. From technology-driven solutions and rural innovations to advancements in healthcare, biotechnology, FinTech, EdTech, clean energy, and sustainable technologies, Indian startups are making significant contributions on multiple fronts.
Reaffirming his government’s dedication to building a supportive environment for entrepreneurship, Modi stressed the importance of creating a culture that fosters risk-taking and dream realization. "Our policies are focused on improving the 'Ease of Doing Business,' increasing resource access, and providing consistent support at every stage," he explained.
The Prime Minister also highlighted his personal involvement in promoting innovation and engaging with emerging startups. He said, "We are actively encouraging innovation and incubation centres to inspire young people to take risks."
He went on to say, the success of 'Startup India' reflects a confident, dynamic, and future-ready India. Encouraging more young people to join the startup ecosystem, he assured, "I compliment every youngster in the startup world and urge more to take this path.Â
