India's captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, has advanced to a shared ninth position, while opener Smriti Mandhana remains steady in fourth place in the latest ICC Women's ODI rankings announced on Tuesday.
Kaur's crucial role in India's recent six-wicket win over New Zealand in the third ODI of their ICC Women's Championship series in Ahmedabad helped her make this leap. Initially, she had slipped down three spots after the first two matches of the series, but her unbeaten 59 off 63 balls in the final match restored her top 10 ranking.
Meanwhile, Mandhana, who earned the player of the match award for her impressive 100-run innings, added 23 rating points, reaching a total of 728—just five points shy of Sri Lanka's Chamari Athapaththu. England’s Natalie Sciver-Brunt leads the ranking chart with 760 points.
India's wicketkeeper Yastika Bhatia also improved, moving from 48th to 45th place following her valuable 35-run contribution. For New Zealand, Brooke Halliday’s knock of 86 boosted her by 12 places to reach 24th, while Georgia Plimmer rose to 74th after scoring 39 runs.
On the bowling front, India's experienced spinner Deepti Sharma gained significant rating points after helping India secure a 2-1 series victory. Deepti, who achieved a career-high 687 points last week, added another 16 points to total 703 following her 3/39 performance, firmly holding her second position among bowlers. England’s left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone continues to lead with 770 rating points.
Among Indian bowlers, Renuka Singh moved up by four places to the 32nd spot, while Saima Thakor climbed 20 places to a joint 77th, and Priya Mishra advanced six places to reach the 83rd position.
