Lucknow: Farmers' Mahapanchayat is to be organized in the Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh today. National General Secretary of Congress Priyanka Gandhi is going to attend this mahapanchayat. At the same time, Section 144 has been imposed in Saharanpur before Priyanka Gandhi's visit. The District Magistrate has issued an order to implement Section 144.
According to the administration, Section 144 will remain in force in the district till 5 April. Till now farmers maha panchayat have been organized in many places including Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan. The farmers are engaged in giving an edge to the movement. On the other hand, farmer leader Rakesh Tikait has given an ultimatum to the government to agitate till October 2, that the government should cancel all these three agricultural laws before October 2. He said that farmers will not return home until these laws are withdrawn. He said that the peasant movement will intensify. Now the parade will be taken out with 40 lakh tractors, not four lakhs.
In the midst of the peasant movement, the government is firm on its stand. The government is still advocating these three agricultural laws as beneficial to the farmers. A few days ago, in the Rajya Sabha, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that agricultural laws are better for the farmers, saying that if the government is ready to make changes, this does not mean that there is a mistake in these laws.
