New Delhi: The Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd - Women secured their spots in the final of the 4th Hockey India Senior Women Inter-Department National Championship held at Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium on Sunday. Railways triumphed over the Sports Authority of India (SAI), while Indian Oil defeated the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). The final match is scheduled for Monday.
In the first semifinal, RSPB dominated SAI with a convincing 4-0 victory. Neha scored the opening goal in the second quarter (20'), giving RSPB an early lead. Salima Tete (34') and captain Navneet Kaur (38') followed up with two quick goals in the third quarter, and Lalremsiami capped off the win with a goal in the final minute (60').
In the second semifinal, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd - Women claimed a 4-1 victory against CBDT. Jyoti kicked off the scoring just one minute into the match, and Beauty Dungdung added another goal shortly after the second quarter began (17'). Young forward Mumtaz Khan scored twice in the third quarter (21', 28') to secure the win. Jaspreet Kaur (9') managed to score the lone goal for CBDT.
As the competition continues, RSPB will face Indian Oil in the final, while SAI will compete against CBDT for third place on Monday.
Earlier in the quarterfinals, SAI showcased their strength by defeating Sashastra Seema Bal 8-0, with Antim (30', 32') and Preeti Dubey (48', 49') scoring two goals each. Meanwhile, CBDT overcame the Union Bank of India 4-2, with Jaspreet Kaur netting two goals (27', 52'). RSPB delivered a stunning performance, blanking the Central Reserve Police Force 11-0, thanks to braces from Neha (15', 52'), Vandana Katariya (22', 41'), and Sangita Kumari (30', 50').
In another quarterfinal match, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd - Women defeated Tamil Nadu Police with a remarkable score of 12-0. Sharmila Devi led the charge with a hat-trick (3', 4', 48'), while Mumtaz Khan also scored three times (19', 46', 51') to help secure their place in the semifinals.
