jaipur: Rajasthan's Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot, has announced his decision to abstain from attending the inaugural ceremony of the much-awaited Chambal Riverfront in Kota. The inauguration of this six-kilometer-long riverfront was originally scheduled for today, but Gehlot cited "unavoidable reasons" for his absence.
Expressing his congratulations to the people of Hadoti for the Kota Riverfront, Gehlot conveyed through the social media platform X that the Chambal Riverfront stands as a historic gift to the residents of Hadoti. He emphasized its potential to boost tourism and contribute to the overall development of the state.
It is anticipated that the inauguration of the riverfront will be conducted by the Minister of Urban Development and Housing (UDH), Shanti Dhariwal. Additionally, various other ministers, MLAs, and MPs from the Gehlot government are expected to be present at the event.
Using his X handle, Gehlot conveyed, "Our esteemed colleague, UDH Minister Shri Shanti Dhariwal, has bestowed a historic gift upon Hadoti in the form of the Kota Riverfront. The Hadoti region has been lagging in terms of tourism, but this riverfront is poised to be a landmark in enhancing tourism and scripting a new chapter in Kota's development. In the previous term, Dhariwal ji had presented Seven Wonders to Kota, which have even become locations for film shoots."
He further added, "I had originally planned to attend the Kota inauguration on September 12–13, an event I was eagerly looking forward to. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, I regret to inform you that I will not be able to participate in the September programs. The programs for September 13 will proceed as planned. My heartiest congratulations to all the residents of Hadoti."
The Chambal Riverfront, stretching along both banks over 6 kilometers, is a multi-crore project designed by architect Anoop Bartaria. It features more than 20 river ghats and a prominent statue of Chambal Mata, along with other ornamental installations adorning the riverfront.
