Members of the Mahila Manch staged a protest outside Delhi Finance Minister Atishi's residence on Tuesday, demanding that the AAP government fulfill its budget announcement to provide a Rs 1000 honorarium to women in the city. The protesters gathered outside the minister's residence on Mathura Road, raising slogans to highlight their demands.

"The AAP government announced a Rs 1000 per month honorarium for women in its budget. This was not just an election promise. Therefore, the government should now provide the money to the women," said Safia Faheem, one of the protesters.

A senior police officer confirmed that the protesters were dispersed peacefully and that no one was detained. "Some women protested in front of Minister Atishi's house. No one was detained as they were protesting peacefully," the officer said.

Later in the day, Atishi addressed a press conference, attributing the protest to the opposition BJP's women's wing and describing it as a sign of their desperation to gain votes.

"It was the BJP's women's wing that staged the protest. This shows the BJP's desperation. They know that the people of Delhi want to see Kejriwal as the chief minister again, and they know that the chief minister will fulfill his promise of giving Rs 1000. That's why they are staging such protests to try to win over a few votes in his name," she stated.

During the Lok Sabha campaign, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was out on bail from Tihar jail, repeatedly assured that he would provide Rs 1000 per month to the women of Delhi.

In its budget for 2024-25 presented in the Assembly, the AAP government announced the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana, promising Rs 1000 per month to adult women in Delhi.
