Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the general secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), will begin her campaign across the seven assembly segments of the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency on Monday and Tuesday. During her campaign, she is expected to deliver speeches focused on rallying support and engaging with local voters.
On Monday, Vadra will cover the three assembly segments within Wayanad district, and on Tuesday, she will visit one segment in Kozhikode and three in Malappuram districts. Local Congress leaders shared that she plans to return for additional meetings before the November 13 election to solidify voter support.
Vadra is running as the United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate for the seat previously held by her brother, Rahul Gandhi. She is competing against Left Democratic Front (LDF) candidate Sathyan Mokeri (CPI) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Navya Haridas, both of whom have launched energetic campaigns in what is expected to be a competitive electoral battle.
The Wayanad constituency includes approximately 1.46 million voters spread across three assembly segments in Wayanad district (Sultan Bathery, Kalpetta, and Mananthavady), three in Malappuram district (Nilambur, Wandoor, and Ernad), and one in Kozhikode district (Thiruvambady). Of these, three segments are represented by Congress, two by CPI(M), one by IUML, and one by an independent candidate.
As the election date nears, Vadra’s campaign trail is anticipated to intensify, with her focus on engaging directly with Wayanad's diverse electorate and strengthening support for the UDF.
