Indian President Droupadi Murmu has begun a six-day tour that includes stops in Fiji, New Zealand, and Timor-Leste. She left New Delhi on August 4, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
Currently in the second phase of her trip, President Murmu will be in New Zealand from August 7 to 9, following an invitation from Honourable Dame Cindy Kiro, Governor General of New Zealand, as reported by PTI.
During her visit to New Zealand, President Murmu will have a bilateral meeting with Governor General Kiro, meet with New Zealand's Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, address an education conference, and engage with the Indian community and friends of India, the MEA stated.
President of India, Droupadi Murmu, yesterday arrived in Nadi, Fiji, for a two-day state visit. She was warmly welcomed by Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Viliame Gavoka, Turaga na Tui Nadi Ratu Vuniyani Navuniuci, and Fiji's High Commissioner to India, Mr. Jagnnath Sami, as shared on the Fijian government's official Facebook page.
During her stay in Fiji, President Murmu will address the Fijian Parliament and interact with its members, many of whom have Indian roots.
Following her visit to Fiji, President Murmu will continue her tour to New Zealand and Timor-Leste. This six-day, three-nation visit aims to advance India's Act East Policy, according to the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi.
