New Delhi: Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri provided details on Thursday regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming visit to the United States, scheduled from September 21-23. The visit will focus on several key areas including bilateral, plurilateral, and multilateral engagements, with a strong emphasis on the Quad summit and sustainable development goals.

Misri outlined that PM Modi's visit will include a variety of important activities. He will first address the Quad summit in Wilmington, Delaware, the hometown of President Joe Biden. This summit will be followed by a series of engagements in New York, including the 'Summit of the Future' at the United Nations General Assembly. The visit will also feature interactions with the Indian diaspora and meetings with business and industry leaders. Notably, PM Modi will participate in the Cancer Moonshot initiative, which aims to collaborate on innovative cancer prevention and treatment strategies, starting with a focus on reducing cervical cancer in the Indo-Pacific region.

Additional highlights of PM Modi's trip include a technology roundtable with CEOs and bilateral meetings with various heads of state. On September 23, PM Modi will address the Summit of the Future at the UN General Assembly, with the theme 'Multilateral Solutions for a Better Tomorrow.' The Quad summit, hosted by President Biden, will review the progress made over the past year and set the agenda for future cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region. The agenda will cover health security, climate change, technology, maritime security, and counter-terrorism.

The visit will also feature bilateral meetings between PM Modi and President Biden, where both sides are expected to exchange agreements on Indo-Pacific economic frameworks and drug policy. Although meetings with former US President Donald Trump are being considered, no specifics have been confirmed yet. Overall, PM Modi’s visit will serve as a platform for advancing key international partnerships and addressing pressing global challenges.
