BRAZIL: Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a lively and heartfelt welcome from the Indian diaspora upon his arrival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for the G20 Leaders' Summit.
The celebrations took place outside Hotel Nacional, featuring a traditional dandiya performance with dancers in colorful Gujarati attire, along with chants of Vedic mantras performed by Brazilian scholars. Members of the Indian community also presented gifts to Prime Minister Modi as a gesture of respect.
The Indian diaspora showed their excitement for the Prime Minister's visit, waving Indian flags and holding up his pictures.
One member of the community said, "We are excited for this moment. We wanted to meet the leader of one of the largest democracies in the world." Another attendee expressed their pride, stating, "It's an honor to see him in person. It is a proud moment for us."

PM Modi arrived in Brazil on Monday, continuing his three-nation tour, which started in Nigeria. He was welcomed at the airport by Indian delegates led by Ambassador Suresh Reddy.
Sharing his anticipation for the G20 Summit on social media, PM Modi wrote, "Landed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to take part in the G20 Summit. I look forward to the Summit deliberations and fruitful talks with various world leaders." He also shared photos of his arrival, capturing the excitement of the Indian community gathered at the airport.
Prior to his arrival in Brazil, PM Modi completed a successful visit to Nigeria, where he met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Their discussions covered areas such as defense, technology, health, and education, with both nations agreeing to collaborate on development goals for the Global South. India also pledged to send 20 tons of humanitarian aid for Nigeria's flood relief efforts.
At the G20 Summit, PM Modi will represent India as a Troika member, building on the progress made during India's presidency last year.
