Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Poland on the first leg of his two-nation visit. This is the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Poland in the last 45 years. PM Modi will be in Poland on 21 and 22 August and after that on 23 August he will visit Kiev, the capital of war-torn Ukraine. This visit holds special significance as this year marks the completion of 70 years of diplomatic relations between India and Poland.

Warm welcome in Poland

PM Modi was given a grand welcome on his arrival in Poland. Photos and videos of his welcome at Warsaw airport are going viral on social media. Sharing information about this visit, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said that PM Modi's visit to Poland is taking place at a time when the two countries are completing 70 years of diplomatic relations. Poland is an important economic partner of India in Central Europe and both countries have a shared commitment to democracy and pluralism, which further strengthens their relations.

PM Modi on his visit to Ukraine

According to the PMO, PM Modi is visiting Ukraine at the invitation of President Volodymyr Zelensky. This will be the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Ukraine. After finishing his visit to Poland, PM Modi will travel to the Ukrainian capital Kyiv by train, which will be a journey of about 10 hours. The purpose of this visit is to strengthen relations between India and Ukraine and promote continued engagement between the two countries.

Prime Minister Modi informed about his visit to Ukraine on his social media account before leaving for the visit. He said, "I will visit Ukraine at the invitation of President Zelensky. This visit will be an opportunity to carry forward earlier discussions and deepen India-Ukraine friendship. We will also share our views on a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict. As a friend and partner, we hope for an early return of peace and stability in the region."

PM Modi's program in Ukraine

The Ministry of External Affairs has informed that several issues will be discussed during PM Modi's meeting in Kiev, including political, trade, economic, investment, education, cultural exchange and humanitarian aid. India has emphasized on dialogue and diplomacy for a peaceful solution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. PM Modi met the Ukrainian President on June 14 during the G7 summit in Italy, and the purpose of this visit is to take these discussions forward.
