NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior leaders marked the 100th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee by paying heartfelt tributes. Vajpayee, celebrated as a visionary leader and statesman, continues to inspire millions across India.

Sharing his thoughts on X, Prime Minister Modi expressed his admiration for Vajpayee, stating: “Respectful tributes to former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji on his 100th birth anniversary.  His vision and mission will continue to strengthen the resolve for a Viksit Bharat.”

In a video message, PM Modi highlighted Vajpayee’s enduring legacy, noting that December 25, known as ‘Good Governance Day,’ celebrates Vajpayee’s ideals. He explained, “Good governance means when the Centre doesn’t have a feeling of power but of service.” He urged citizens to uphold their responsibilities, emphasizing, “Let’s aim to achieve our goals in remembrance of Atalji. This is what he taught us and what the nation expects from us.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah described Vajpayee as a leader who transformed Indian politics through development and good governance. Shah praised Vajpayee’s role in popularizing cultural nationalism, stating, “Atal ji made cultural nationalism a work culture and always prioritized the country’s security and public welfare. Like the Pole Star, Atal ji will continue to guide us on the path of national service forever.”

BJP President J.P. Nadda also lauded Vajpayee’s contributions, noting his unwavering integrity and commitment to the nation. “Atal Bihari Ji gave new heights to the tradition of integrity & service to Indian politics. Atalhi's contribution to establishing India as a global superpower is unforgettable,” Nadda said. He added that ‘Good Governance Day’ reflects Vajpayee’s vision for inclusive national development.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh paid homage by calling Vajpayee “a pillar of independent Indian politics.” Singh acknowledged Vajpayee’s pivotal role in shaping modern India and his efforts to set high standards in both politics and diplomacy.  Today, on his 100th birth anniversary, I pay my humble tribute to him,” he stated.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee served as India’s Prime Minister three times, leaving a lasting imprint on the nation’s history. Known for his charismatic leadership, visionary policies, and commitment to national progress, Vajpayee remains a beacon of inspiration for leaders and citizens alike.
