State-owned oil companies have released the new prices of petrol and diesel today (August 3). There has been no change in the prices of petrol and diesel for more than 70 days. The last time the Modi government at the Centre reduced the excise duty on petrol and diesel was on May 21. Subsequently, petrol became cheaper by Rs 9.50 and diesel by Rs 7 per litre across the country. On the one hand, while petrol-diesel prices are stable, CNG prices have increased in some places. In Uttar Pradesh, CNG prices have also gone up in the capital Lucknow. Green Gas Limited (GGL) on Sunday hiked CNG prices by Rs 5.3 per kg in Lucknow and Unnao. Subsequently, CNG is available at Rs 96.10 per kg in Lucknow and Rs 97.55 per kg in Unnao. Here, the price of CNG has reached around that of petrol.
