As the Parliament Winter Session begins today, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to introduce several key bills, including the Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill. This bill aims to modify the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934, along with proposed changes to the Banking Regulation Act and the State Bank of India Act.
the Finance Minister will also present amendments to the Banking Companies (Acquisition and Transfer of Undertakings) Act of 1970 and 1980 for consideration.
In other legislative matters, Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw will introduce the Railways (Amendment) Bill to update the Railway Act, 1989.
Jayant Chaudhary, who serves as Minister of State for the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and the Ministry of Education, will deliver an update on the implementation of the 56th Report of the Standing Committee. This report focuses on the Skill Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion (SANKALP) Project under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
Union Minister Faggan Singh Kulaste, along with National Commission for Scheduled Tribes Vice-Chairman Ananta Nayak, will seek the inclusion of a Rajya Sabha member in committees focused on the welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes for the 2024-25 period.
A motion will also be put forward by BJP MPs Rodmal Nagar and Ganesh Singh to elect a Rajya Sabha member to the Committee on Welfare of Other Backward Classes.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will call for the election of two members to join the Council of Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

Union Minister Manohar Lal will also propose the election of a member to the Advisory Council of the Delhi Development Authority for a four-year term.
MoS Veeranna Somanna will make a statement in the Upper House about the status of water resource initiatives, focusing on the recommendations in recent reports related to drinking water and sanitation.
The Parliament Winter Session is scheduled to run from November 25 to December 20, with a pause on November 26 to celebrate "Constitution Day."
