Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will lead a delegation of Indian parliamentarians to the 149th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly in Geneva from October 13 to 17. This prestigious event will see representatives from 180 member parliaments and 15 associate members come together to discuss global parliamentary matters.
During the assembly, Speaker Birla will address the gathering on the theme, “Harnessing Science, Technology, and Innovation for a More Peaceful and Sustainable Future.” His speech will emphasize the role of technology in fostering peace and sustainability across the world.
The Indian delegation includes a range of prominent leaders, such as Harivansh Singh, Deputy Chair of the Rajya Sabha; Bhartruhari Mahtab, Anurag Singh Thakur, Rajeev Shukla, Vishnu Dayal Ram, Aparajita Sarangi, Dr. Sasmit Patra, Mamata Mohanta, Utpal Kumar Singh, Secretary-General of Lok Sabha, and P. C. Mody, Secretary-General of Rajya Sabha. Their combined experience and expertise will enhance India's participation on the global stage.

Speaker Birla is also expected to hold meetings with leaders from other countries to promote bilateral relations and dialogue on common interests. Additionally, he will address the Indian diaspora in Geneva on October 14, offering insights into India’s role in the IPU and the importance of representing the country on international platforms.
