On the occasion of Janmashtami, people offer special bhog to Lord Krishna, which includes kheer, makhan-mishri and other sweets. It is very easy to make and it is a delicious and nutritious option to offer bhog to Shri Krishna.

Method of making gourd barfi
Preparation of bottle gourd: First wash the bottle gourd thoroughly, then peel it and remove its seeds. Now grate the bottle gourd.
Cooking process: Heat 1 tablespoon ghee in a kadhai or pan. After this, add grated bottle gourd to it and cook on low flame. Cook the bottle gourd until its water dries up and the bottle gourd becomes soft.
Add milk: When the water from the bottle gourd dries up, add 2 cups of milk to it. Boil the milk and mix it well with the bottle gourd. Cook the milk till it reduces completely.
Add sugar: Now when the mixture thickens, add sugar to it and mix well. Cook the mixture until the sugar dissolves completely and the mixture thickens further.
Add ghee and spices: Add one tablespoon of ghee and mix well. Then add cardamom powder and raisins and mix.
Setting Process: Take a plate and apply ghee on it. Now pour the gourd mixture on the plate and spread it well. Leave it to set for 1-2 hours. The barfi will set when it cools down.
Decoration and Serving: Cut the barfi in desired shapes and garnish with chopped pistachios and almonds.
Now your delicious Lauki ki Barfi is ready. Offer it as bhog to Shri Krishna on Janmashtami and enjoy it with your family.
