The Odisha Tourism Department has announced the much-awaited Konark Festival and the International Sand Art Festival, both set to take place from December 1 to 5, 2024. These vibrant events will highlight the rich cultural heritage of the state and offer unique experiences to visitors from across the globe.

What is the Konark Festival?
The 35th edition of the Konark Festival will be a spectacular five-day celebration dedicated to classical dance forms. Held annually at the iconic Sun Temple in Konark, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the festival draws tourists and art lovers alike. The open-air stage, bathed in soft golden lights and set against the awe-inspiring backdrop of the 13th-century temple, provides a stunning venue for the performances.

The festival will feature a variety of Indian classical dance forms, including Odissi, Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Kuchipudi, Manipuri, and Mohiniyattam, with both Indian and international performers. The dances, often based on stories of love, devotion, and mythology, are sure to enchant audiences and showcase India’s rich cultural diversity.

Since its inception in 1986, the Konark Dance Festival has become one of the largest and most prestigious cultural events in the state. The festival has evolved over the years, attracting dance enthusiasts from around the world to witness world-class performances in the heart of Odisha.
