The National Testing Agency (NTA) has extended the registration deadline for the NEET-UG 2024 examination until March 16. This announcement comes after feedback from various stakeholders prompted the NTA to make adjustments to the registration window.
Candidates now have until March 16 to register for the NEET-UG 2024 exam, which is scheduled for May 5, 2024. The exam will take place from 2:00 PM to 5:20 PM in India, with test centers also available in 14 cities outside the country. It will be conducted in pen and paper (offline) mode.
The registration process for NEET (UG) 2024 began on February 9 and is ongoing. However, this extension is a one-time opportunity, and there will be no further chances to apply after March 16.
For assistance during the application process, candidates can contact 011-40759000. Additionally, the NTA advises candidates to regularly check their official website (www.nta.ac.in) for updates.
In recent years, there has been a notable increase in the number of students registering for NEET. In 2022, 1,872,339 students registered for the exam, followed by 2,087,462 registrations in 2023. This upward trend indicates heightened competition among aspiring candidates.
In 2022, 993,069 candidates qualified for the exam, with a qualifying rate of 56.21 percent. Similarly, in 2023, 1,145,976 candidates qualified, with a qualifying rate of 56.27 percent. With approximately 22 lakh applications anticipated for NEET 2024, this trend of increasing registrations and competition is expected to persist.
