The 59th All India Conference of Directors General and Inspectors General of Police has officially begun in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, focusing on critical national security challenges. The event, running from November 29 to December 1, addresses key issues like counter-terrorism, left-wing extremism, coastal security, narcotics control, and the impact of new criminal laws.

This three-day gathering brings together senior police officials, security experts, and policymakers from across the country to discuss internal security matters, crime prevention, and law and order management. The conference also provides an opportunity for officials to share best practices, explore operational improvements, and tackle welfare concerns for law enforcement agencies.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the conference on November 30 and December 1, along with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. A highlight of the event will be the presentation of the President’s Police Medal for distinguished service, honoring outstanding contributions to law enforcement.

Since 2014, the conference has become a platform for informal and open discussions, allowing for the exchange of innovative ideas among police officials. This year, the event includes unique features such as yoga sessions, thematic dining discussions, and dedicated breakout sessions designed to make the most of the delegates’ time.

The conference has been held in various locations across the country over the years, including cities like Guwahati, Hyderabad, and New Delhi. This year, Bhubaneswar continues the tradition of rotating the venue to ensure accessibility for different regions.

Among those attending are Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, the National Security Adviser, the Ministers of State for Home Affairs, DGPs from states and Union Territories, and chiefs of Central Police Organisations.
