The festival of Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated on 19th August, and on this special occasion, the relationship between brother and sister is sweetened with special sweets. Usually people buy sweets from the market, but this time you can make some different and healthy sweets at home which are prepared from vegetables. These will not only be tasty but will also be healthy.

1. Parwal Sweet

Material :

  • Parwal (vegetable)
  • Khoya milk (can be bought from the market)
  • Pistachios, cashews, almonds, raisins
  • green cardamom
  • Sugar (for syrup)

Method to make :

  1. First of all, wash the gourd thoroughly, peel it and make a cut in the middle and take out the seeds.
  2. Now boil the parwal in water and turn off the gas after it is cooked about 70 percent. Take out the boiled parwal in a sieve and let the water drain out.
  3. Make syrup by adding equal amounts of water and sugar in a pan. Also add cardamom powder and a little green colour to it.
  4. After the syrup is ready, add parwal to it and cook for some time. Then turn off the gas and let the parwal remain immersed in the syrup for 4-5 hours.
  5. Prepare the filling by mixing chopped dry fruits in khoya. Remove the parwal from the syrup and fill it with khoya one by one.
  6. Serve parwal garnished with pistachios.

2. Bottle Gourd Barfi

Material :

  • Bottle gourd
  • Lost
  • cardamom powder
  • Cashews, almonds, melon seeds
  • Sugar (for syrup)

Method to make :

  1. Wash the gourd and grate it. Add ghee in a pan and cook the gourd on low flame, keep stirring in between so that the gourd does not burn.
  2. On the other hand, put khoya in the pan and fry it on low flame while stirring continuously till it turns golden in color.
  3. Prepare two-string syrup by adding sugar and water in a pan. Add cardamom powder to it.
  4. After the syrup is ready, turn off the gas and add roasted gourd, khoya and dry fruits in it.
  5. Apply ghee on a plate and spread this mixture. After some time the barfi will become solid. Then cut it into square pieces and garnish with cashews.
