Car manufacturer Mahindra has launched its new Thar Rocks in the Indian market. This new 5-door Thar is available in six variants and has been updated with many updates. However, Mahindra's 3-door Thar is also quite popular. In this article, we will compare the new Thar Rocks and the old 3-door Thar so that you can decide which Thar will be better for you.

Thar Rocks vs 3-Door Thar

Mahindra Thar Rocks are built on a new platform with the latest technology, great performance, and luxury. The new Thar is longer and more spacious than the old 3-door model.

Space

The new Thar Rocks has more rear seating space. Apart from this, more space has also been provided for luggage. The wheelbase of the old 3-door Thar is 2450 mm, while the wheelbase of Thar Rocks is 2850 mm, which gives it more space.

Color Options

The Thar Rocks are available in 7 color options, while the old Thar only has 5 color options. The new Thar Rocks feature long and wide running boards and square rear wheel arches. It also gets rear quarter glass, which makes it different from the 3-door Thar.

Features

Mahindra Thar Rocks has been given many new features like powered driver seat, 360-degree camera, ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), and panoramic sunroof. Apart from this, it will also get dual 10.25-inch screens. All these features were not in the old 3-door Thar.

engine

The Thar Rocks is available with a diesel and a turbocharged petrol engine option. The manual transmission of the petrol variant produces 152hp and 330Nm of torque, while the automatic variant offers 177hp and 380Nm of torque. The base engine of the diesel variant is a 2.2-liter that produces 162hp and 330Nm of torque.

At the same time, the base variant of the old Thar has a 1.5-litre diesel engine, which generates 116hp and 300Nm of torque.

price

The Mahindra Thar Rocks is priced slightly higher than the old Thar. While the old Thar is priced between Rs 11.35 lakh and Rs 17.60 lakh (ex-showroom), the Thar Rocks starts at Rs 12.99 lakh and goes up to Rs 20.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top variant. If you are choosing between the new Thar Rocks and the old 3-door Thar, the new Thar Rocks comes with better features, more space and modern technology, while the old Thar is priced slightly lower. Depending on your needs and budget, you can decide which Thar will be right for you.
