Maharashtra Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad o Saturday announced that All board students from classes 1 to 8 will be promoted without the examinations in the light of the current coronavirus situation.
In a brief video message, Maharashtra's education minister said that decision regarding students of classes 9 and 11 will soon be taken. The Education Minister, however, has not shared any update on the upcoming board examinations. Check out the message below.
Varsha Gaikwad writes, ‘Announcement: In view of the ongoing situation due to Covid 19, all state board students across Maharashtra state from Class 1st to Class 8th will be promoted to the next class without any examinations. A decision regarding students of class 9th and 11th will soon be taken.’
The Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, who chaired a meeting on Sunday with bureaucrats in the evening, painted a grim picture of the Covid-19 situation. He warned that the state will announce stricter curbs in a day or two, and warned of a lockdown if the situation did not improve
The Chief Minister urged rival political parties and critics to come forward and help frontline workers and assist the state in mobilising extra doctors. The state registered 47,827 cases on Friday.
