Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan criticized Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for what he deemed as false statements made by Rahul during a rally in the state, which is currently in the midst of election preparations. Using a social media platform, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan expressed his disapproval, stating, "Rahul Gandhi-ji came to Madhya Pradesh and spoke a lot. But alas, he only spoke lies. No one is going to fall prey to your false promises. The people know everything."
During a previous visit to the state, Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the BJP, describing the Madhya Pradesh government as the "epicentre of corruption." He accused the government of not providing fair prices to farmers for their produce. Addressing a rally in Shajapur, Rahul Gandhi also criticized the BJP-led central government for not releasing caste census data and for the underrepresentation of OBCs (Other Backward Classes) in secretary-level positions.
Rahul Gandhi further alleged that the BJP government was attempting to sow divisions in society. He emphasized the contrast between the Congress Party's principles of love, respect, and brotherhood with what he perceived as hatred and violence propagated by the BJP. He asserted that the youth and farmers of Madhya Pradesh were increasingly turning away from the BJP. Rahul Gandhi accused the state of becoming a corruption hotspot under the BJP's rule.
Taking aim at the Shivraj Chouhan government, Rahul Gandhi claimed that Congress-led governments prioritize the welfare of the poor and uphold their commitments to the people. He highlighted concerns about the pricing of agricultural produce, especially in comparison to Chhattisgarh, and stressed that the Congress fulfills its promises. Rahul Gandhi also pledged that if the Congress government returned to power at the national level, they would conduct a caste census to provide better representation and understand the demographics of the country. He said, "When I ask how many Dalits, OBCs, tribals, and general category people are there in the country, I get no answers. After forming the government at the Centre, the first thing we will do is to get a caste census done."
