Lady Gaga’s announcement to join the cast of Netflix’s popular series Wednesday for its second season has left fans divided.

While the details of her role remain under wraps, the singer has already started filming in Europe alongside the show's regular stars, including Jenna Ortega, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Gwendoline Christie, and Emma Myers. The news was confirmed by sources close to the production.

As expected, the news sparked a flurry of reactions on social media. Some fans were excited, calling the casting decision “iconic,” while others expressed doubts about Gaga’s acting skills. One user commented, “Lady Gaga is not an actress,” while another said, “Pray it doesn’t get done like Joker 2.”

A third fan shared their concerns, saying, “She is a great singer and an awful actress. Please don’t do to Wednesday what you did to Joker 2.” Meanwhile, one user quipped, “Please no song, no musical, no nothing for Gaga. Someone stops her.”

Interestingly, Jenna Ortega, who plays the title role of Wednesday Addams, shared her thoughts earlier this year on what role Gaga might play. Speaking in January 2023, Ortega expressed her hope that Gaga could portray a character like Mrs. Thornhill, saying, “I think Mrs. Thornhill and Wednesday had this weird mentor relationship or kind of understood each other in a certain way.” Ortega added, “So, if Lady Gaga were to be a part, I think it would have to be two monsters that understand each other."

Gaga's involvement in the Wednesday series comes shortly after her appearance in Joker: Folie à Deux. She also made her mark on television with a notable performance in American Horror Story: Hotel, for which she won a Golden Globe.

As filming continues, fans remain eager to see how Gaga’s performance will fit into the eerie world of Wednesday.
