Thiruvananthapuram: The universities in Kerala have postponed all offline exams scheduled from today, (19 April, 2021) onwards considering the Covid surge in the state. The revised dates will be informed later.
The universities decided to postpone the exams as Governor Arif Mohammed Kahn directed all vice-chancellors to postpone the exams on Sunday. The Governor directed that it is ideal to postpone the exam considering the safety of students during Covid times.
Earlier, students and parents had requested the universities to postpone the exams. Senior Congress leader and opposition leader of the state Ramesh Chennithala and Member of Parliament from Thiruvananthapuram Shashi Tharoor had also requested the Governor to postpone the examinations.
Calicut University, MG University, Kannur University, Health University and Malayalam University have announced that all exams scheduled for Monday have been postponed. Other universities have not informed their decision yet.
The Governor has directed the universities that it would be ideal to postpone the examinations owing to the safety of the students and teachers with the Covid cases mounting in the state. Students and parents had earlier petitioned the universities to postpone the examinations.
